Why is Bleed Important...
Print Information...
When preparing and distributing any of your office advertising or informational print media, it is not only important what you are saying and how you are saying it, but also that the way you are saying it looks impressive and professional. So to get a professional printing finish you may decide to try and do the right thing and print the documents in house, on the best printer in the office, and of course in full colour.
Well while you are trying to save your company a bit of money by not using a professional designer and printer, you are probably costing your company customers and clients by sending out unprofessional, amateur printing projects which will do anything but impress your customers.
One of the biggest and most glaring ways your in house printing project will give you away is the fact that there is a nasty white border around the edge of the page, as your office printer can’t print right to the edge. Well, if you look at professionally printed posters, flyers, or even a business card, the image, colour or border goes right to the edge of the page, giving the project a professional, clean and neat look.
However, professional printers can’t print right to the edge of the page either, but they will bleed out the image or background colour of your project an extra three to five millimetres and then cut your project back to the size you asked for, leaving the image flush with the edge of the page.
Now you know the trick, you may be thinking you can do this part of the printing process in house too. But do you have industrial sized cutting boards in your office? Can you be sure you are cutting each sheet in exactly the same place and to exactly the same size? No, because it is not your speciality.
Therefore, make sure you leave your office printing to the professionals, and we will let you get on with what your business does best. And you will need to be on the ball in your office anyway because once your professionally printed brochures and flyers get out, you’ll have more work than you know what to do with.
