Advice About Paper Types...

When you know the type of paper you need, you have a myriad of choices with regards to the colour, texture, finish and gsm. However, before you can choose the final details of colour and size, you need to narrow down your choices.

There are so many different types of paper, card and stock out there that if you have an idea of what you would like your finished printing project to look, and feel, like, chances are we can find you the paper which can make it happen. The paper you choose affects not only the look and feel of your printed document, but also the quality too. Some papers take colour better and others text and if you choose correctly from the beginning, your final printing project will look just as you dreamed it would.

For a protective cover for a folder, report or brochure, you may choose board. Board is usually classified as anything over 200 gsm, and will give you a distinct outer cover for your document and give it a presence not achieved by an entire document printed on 80 gsm.

For your letterheads you will be putting them through your office printers and photocopiers and so you will use bond paper for this sort of printing project. To differentiate a printing project or document from your regular office stationery, use coated stock as it accepts and presents colour better and in gloss, silk or matte it gives a subtly stylish finish.

For regular office stationery and letterheads with a difference, you will be using laid paper which is uncoated, but has the texture and parallel lined pattered of handmade paper so your letterheads stand out from the crowd.
